Global Unemployment

Though the data is slightly dated, the CIA's 'The World Factbook' shows that the U.S. unemployment ("officially" at 7.2%) is still the envy of every war torn nation.

  1. WHY IS MEXICO NOT ON THE LIST? WOULD THAT BE POSSIBLE? OFFICIAL GOV'T DATA IS 4.5%. PLEASE

  2. The US unemployment isn't really 7.2%. That's the US "cook the books" figure. BLS report A12 line U-6 is a more comparable figure and has unemployment at 13.5%

    Do you suppose all these other countries lie to their people as effectiverly as the US?

  3. Gerardo- pulled all the data from the CBO site. No clue why Mexico is not on there.

    Unfortunately I cannot revise as I am traveling all week (the huge non-standard size of the chart means I needed Photoshop... on a home computer).

    Anon- I have a chart detailing just what you state and can't agree more...

    and yes... I think they lie to their people, but not nearly as effectively.
