Similarly with unemployment numbers.

I wonder if deflation really sets in if we see some methodology changes to CPI that make the numbers bigger...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11027528911364475.post-57709276638520013962009-08-28T16:54:18.379-07:002009-08-28T16:54:18.379-07:00This appears to be some kind of nominal number, ra...This appears to be some kind of nominal number, rather than real wages. There's no way that real wages gained that much per year in the 1970s. And the annual gain since 1980 reflects decreasing inflation.
Nonetheless, the recent plummet is alarming, especially relative to an indebted consumer.Dan Buckstaffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00366371279259514354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11027528911364475.post-5081840993123311842009-08-28T14:21:05.719-07:002009-08-28T14:21:05.719-07:00or it's just a bad recession that will work ou...or it's just a bad recession that will work out of over time... finally someone who's more bearish than i am!Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07946497592651234440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11027528911364475.post-75166041885525597372009-08-28T14:08:42.648-07:002009-08-28T14:08:42.648-07:00ok ..rant time...if these numbers are as bad as th...ok ..rant time...if these numbers are as bad as they look, then the economy has failed. We know the culprits, but quite frankly, when the economy fails, its not the criminals who need looking after..its the bottom quartile. So either America wants to revert back to slavery, economically if not literally, or we all pull together. This means, the government repossesing all vacant houses, bringing back all troops, extending food and health care to all that need it, for free. This is real, we need another answer, as this has failed. We do it on aplanned basis and create an environment of regeneration or we slump long term and abrogate the possibility of a future that resembles something we can aspire too. The picture you portray reveal the sophistry of a propaganda machine in DC that would put Goebbels to shame. Just saying.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11027528911364475.post-11422347419406093852009-08-28T12:17:25.656-07:002009-08-28T12:17:25.656-07:00Hmm...who got elected in 1980?Hmm...who got elected in 1980?Karl Rovenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11027528911364475.post-4961566833108946862009-08-28T11:47:15.546-07:002009-08-28T11:47:15.546-07:00to say the least.
